Its a matter of confidence and a sense of independence. You should only like a girl if you have very good reasons to do so. What you've done is clinging to any positive traits you think the girl might have and therefore created some false illusion.
Work on your confidence. Whatever girl your talking to, you're as good as her. Also this "sense of independence" - get all of your positive emotions from within rather than feeling good about the girl giving some IOI's. Lastly, don't care what anyone thinks of you.
Practical ways to achieve this? You just got to feel it.
