Guys I need some help. I'm fed up of getting turned away at doors for not having proper shoes so I'm going to get something sorted before next time I go out, however I'm completely stuck what to look for!

I generally dress dark blue / grey'y jeans and white or dark shirt.

I've seen around that maybe brown shoes are the better to be looking for if pairing with blue'y jeans is that right?

Help!!

Your shoes should contrast your pants. So generally if you're wearing jeans go with brown shoes, or a light grey suede. Def a dressy style, not sneakers or athletic shoes but not too dressy. Google 'brown captoe' or 'grey suede' to get an idea if what I'm talking about. A Chukka style would be fine also, though they're a bit more casual. Stay away from anything overly shiny to keep it casual.

Happy hunting.

brown shoes are more universal than black shoes. Brown shoes goes with every color pants except black.
Definitely brown shoes for what you described.
Just if you use belt do not forget that brown shoes goes with brown belt (I see some dude having black belt and brown shoes or vice versa, that looks very bad)
