This has happened several times now. I'll be attempting to make a funny/witty comment, and people will respond too quickly and cut me off, or just not seem to understand what I'm saying or that's its supposed to be humorous.
This girl I met has a thick Texas accent. I told her I could detect a bit of an accent and I was going to finish with something like "Is it australian?" but before I could get those words out she responds in her southern twang "Yep, I git that all tha' time, I'm frum Texas...yadda yadda yadda."
Then the other day these I was at the cafeteria and this transexual who works there was hitting on me in front of some acquaintances. There was also another girl there in TRAINING. After we left I was like "Did you see that tranny hitting on me???" They were like "Yea, the girl in training?" I was like "No, the TRANNY." I don't know if they both fell out of the same stupid tree or what, but they were like "Yeah, she's in training. The girl at the counter is in training." I said it a third time, "No, not that girl. The tranny, like a transexual." And at that point they were kind of talking over me and were clearly resistant to what I was saying. I don't think they were offended, I think they were actually completely oblivious and confused by how the words "tranny" and "training" sounded.
This happens quite a bit, and its like I try to be funny and people just ruin it by being idiots and running their mouths too soon or saying dumb shit. And if I slow them down and tell them not to focus on the squirrel and instead listen to my explanation, then it kills the funny because a joke isn't funny once you have to belabor it that much. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions?
Lol, I get this allot it seems lately. It almost feels like I need to "dumb down" a little. I sure hope not!
Here is some Middle School humor, see if they get it.
PUA: "What did the penis say to the condom?"
Bottom feeders: "I Don't know??"
PUA: "Cover me I'm going in!"
