This book was written with the help of Neil Strauss (Style's real name) by the "boys" of one of my favorite hair metal bands, Motley Crue. It was a fairly quick/fun read for me. David Deangelo recommended it on his extensive reading list. I first read it around age 22 or so and needed to look at the "bad boy" rockstar view of the world. With hits such as "Girls, Girls, Girls", which is one of THE most popular strip club songs of all time, it is a wonder just how these freaks of nature are still touring even today.


The members of Motley Crue are as follows:

Vince Neil - Lead singer and sex/chick addict
Mick Mars - Guitarist and booze guzzler
Nikki Sixx - Bassist (including his new band Sixx:AM)
Tommy Lee - Drummer most famous for his marriage to Pamela Anderson (Lee) from Baywatch/Playboy fame

I read this book about 2-3 times before I loaned it to a friend a few years ago. It talks about the bands' beginnings. A band called Sweet played at Whisky-a-Gogo in LA and the younger members met Mick Mars when he was up on stage and they thought he was amazing. Many of the members talked about their upbringings. I could identify with them quite a bit.

They played "The Whisky" for a while before getting bigger. Sex, drugs and rock n' roll pervaded throughout this book. Many of them hooked up with Playboy models and other celebs. Vince Neil is rumored to be so addicted to girls that he would fuck 2-3 of them a day, sometimes at the same time. Ozzy Osbourne is also in the book.

I highly recommend this read. 4.5 out of 5 Stars
