I picked it up the other day and I'm about 20 pages in and it sucks.

Has anybody read it? I'm not sure whether I should continue reading or not so I want another opinion on it. Thanks

The chapter on The Rake is really eye-opening

It sucks because you're approaching it from the angle of a modern student of pick-up, I would guess. Robert Greene is a bit more traditionally romantic. The book has some decent information, if you want to gain a new, fresh perspective.

The Art of Seduction is THE book that got me started in pick-up. I guess you could say I was more of a Renaissance man when I began, so the stories, sidenotes, and the explanation of the process as related to literature and history was mind-blowing to me.

Actually, the chapters on the use of language in seduction pointed me towards NLP later down the road. Using NLP to build the better Rake. Hmmmmm....

Admittedly, there will be some that don't like it. However, I have noted that on certain situations, when a more psychologically in-depth approach or seduction was required, that book did me well. Sometimes I would "think too much" about a situation, and AoS would bring me back into keeping things simple.

If you've already paid for it, keep it and go back to it from time to time.

At least take to time to study "Victim Theory", the insights are great when you look at your own real examples.

This.

Unfortunately, it doesn't contain much in the way of examples. There are only two, and only the first one is really cool. The Anti-Seducer chapter is really good too. It'll help you identify sticking points.

Then how should I approach reading it?

I thought this book was totally amazing. It's very theoretical book not practical at first. It's also not designed just to cover 1 on 1 seduction for guys but also for girls and mass seduction (Napoleon and what he did to make him self popular with mass).

However if you are interested u can think about things you can do with this book, trying out and learning many different styles.

Part of this book talks about Adam Lyons social proof game and other somewhat famous people in past who has used this. Adam said if he could tell him self of past what to do with game, it's social proof. Well if he read this book he could have found out this style earlier and held onto his job ;)

I just bought this book on the book store yesterday i was scanning the shelves and was looking for something about related to pick-up and then i saw "The Art of Seduction" then bought it. It's still sealed with a plastic cover, i can't wait to read it and expand some more knowledge about seduction. Cheers!

I thought it was an awesome book, yeah, it's not about pickup, you have to use a little more imagination and he's not really very explicit about what he wants you to do but if you're the type that gets really psychological about things then it is a great book. It also proved to me that there was a more sophisticated side to the game. I read Casanova's memoirs and the seducer's diary afterwards and it was a totally different perspective than what you'd get out of say "the game" but I think you've got to appreciate the whole evolution of ideas. See the big picture

I'm going to be honest, I would never say I read "the game" or any other pickup book. There's really nothing I'd want to share with the wider world but the art of seduction tells you how pickup applies to the world, how we're not just some little fringe group of people talking on a forum, our ideas have moved the world. And I would say that's just as important as trying to get the next routine down.

I started reading it, but got bored with all the sidenotes. I have a hard time reading that much commentary in one book. Eventually, I will finish it...
