Why the fuck should you decide to start playing drums when you don't even know what a drum is or how the sound comes when you hit it?

Theres books that will tell you that. Books are there for a reason, they are not a bad way to start anything. They actually give you a massive headstart!

Even in school you learn from your books, you just don't go straight off learning something by real experiences when you don't even know what that something really is.

Short answer... Because drumming and social skills are completely dissimilar and I'm sure we all know what a woman is and where we all want to hit it.. oh, i mean her

Some of the best advice i have read from the limited selection of PUArtistry material I have read is exactly what i quoted. This is basically, get out and start talking to girls. You can read every book there is on the subject and unless you take that one step you will NEVER succeed as a PUA. I'm also not sure, but I'm sure Style himself can be quoted (or paraphrased really) - in his book somewhere to say, "it doesnt matter WHAT you say while talking as long as you are saying something [imo=trying]" This is aka the 90-10 principle isn't it?

Further, I NEVER said anything about books being a BAD resource or a BAD place to start, just that IMO getting into the real world and experimenting with various openers and pushing yourself fuels one with such a high that it is likely going to propel one's interest in PUArtistry for some time. I'll be honest though, books have this effect on some as well.

I suppose in the same vein you can read every possible book there is about drumming but unless you make that first beat with your drumstick, no band, nor anyone else, would respect you as a 'drummer'.

Yeah, the true thing is that books can't teach you everything. They can only give you the idea of things but you have to practice it and learn it by yourself.

I really enjoyed Juggler's Conversational Jujitsu. It was completely different from every other PUA book I've read, but it made sense. The only thing I didn't like was that it was just a compliation of his posts. It was still very informative though.

Personally, I find "art of approaching" to be better.

Mystery Method is good, don't get me wrong, but it reads like a Maths textbook. Formula this, equation that. It tends to encourage a very 'unnatural' game, kind of like a script you must follow. I don't find it to be very real world, but then some people find that book totally awesome. Besides, Mystery is arguably the best PUA

Art of Approaching I enjoyed alot more. It's more interesting, and it's also more descriptive, and kind of gives you more skills, and is alot more into self-improvement...If you like, it gives you the tools that you need, more than Mystery Method does. It's also alot better with respects to approach anxiety too

Both are good, but Art of approaching is better

MM is I believe the foundation and a reference, you'll eventually go back to it again and again as you improve. At least thats what I do..

I do believe in learning from various sources and just testing them and see which one is best for you. For example I could never peacock. Not only because peacocking does not seem work well in my country (attracts HB10, but scares pretty much all other girls), but also because I don't feel comfortable with it.
Same. Except for the peacocking, though I have to respect anyone who does not peacock at all. I'm trimming that stuff down.
