its pretty much saying that there are no links between muscle stimulation and weight loss

what people fail to undersand is... just because you start to work out and burn more calories, dosnt matter if you dont change you diet, ex stop being a fat cow and eating everything in sight, the average human is supposed to eat up to a 2000-2200 per day

im 6'5 and my daily calorie consumption is estimated to be around 2500,

no wonder there are a huge amount of overweight people who pig out and thing "oh i can work it out later"

there are scientific links if humans receive the minimal amount of carbs, but receive the normal amount of vitamins they will live longer, because supposedly A your radical blood cells will come at a much slower pace, and you will age slower due the strain you are relieving you body.

Well obviously if you exercise and burn more calories than you're taking in you're going to lose weight.

I agree with you. I workout and do cardio daily, it does me good.

I read that article and it's interesting but it's like the perfect excuse for fat people to do zero exercise.

If you do exercise that doesn't mean you can then stuff your face, cos even in an hours workout you're really not burning off that much calories compared to the caloric content of food.

Eat less. Easy. Drink at least 2 litres of water a day which keeps the system running nicely and flushes out shit in your body. Easy. Doing some exercise 3 times a week. Easy. Even if it's just going for a walk.

Actually, it's not that simple. Most peoples definition of exercise ("cardio"), does little in the way of burning calories, does nothing in the way of building muscle (a metabolically expensive tissue), and stimulates hunger- most often resulting in more calories being consumed than if one were to not exercise at all (taking the calories burnt into account).

Going further, excessive amounts of what most people consider "exercise", will actually destroy muscle, and technically result in an increase in body fat percentage.

So no, it is not as simple as burning more calories than you take in to lose weight. Hence, western society is on a fast track to heart disease/obesity disney land.

People tend to underestimate their calorie intake by approx. 1000 calories per day. So if you aren't watching what you eat, you can gain weight very quickly and not really understand why (even though it is obvious).

They say one of the best ways to burn belly fat is to walk at reasonable pace on a treadmill with the incline up high. Do that for about 30 minutes making sure to keep your heart rate in the fat burning zone, not the cardio zone.

Cardio exercise over a period of time increases your MBR (Metabolic Base Rate), that is your metabolism when you're idle.

So, the actual exercise you do in the gym may not burn many calories; it's the increase in your MBR that will burn more calories slowly when you're idle, but over the course of every day, even when you're sat down or sleeping.

That's why kids stay thin despite eating crisps and chocolate, they have a high MBR. As our MBR decreases as we get older, we put on weight just by eating a mint! Counter this effect by increasing your MBR back up by exercising and you'll stay as thin as when you were a kid!

This is blatantly false. "Cardio" does little (or, reverse) in the way of increasing your basal metabolic rate. The only thing that will increase BMR is an increase in muscle mass- which cardio does NOT do. "Cardio" in some cases even results in a decrease in lean tissue- marathon runners being an extreme example.

Ok people. Reliable data. Not naming any sources but real fat science people advice.

The only thing that is known to change your fat "amounts" is a change in lifestyle. It is like tipping a scale really, a small change will over time make a huge difference. But it assumes that you will keep the change. No amount of liposuction will challenge that. If you do liposuction and keep the same lifestyle you will be back in no time.

Apart from that bodyfat follows the rule of energy in energy out. The reason that sugar is bad is because it is massive amounts of easily accessibly energy stored in your adipose tissue. The reason other sources of energy are preferably is because they take longer time to digest and to convert into sugar which the cells can process and so they give a more stable energyflow that the body have time to deal with and use before it can go into the reserves (fat).

I barely read the first page of the article. And its so stupid, that someone even dares to post that.
Of course when you exercise you will be hungry, you're accelerating your metabolism, and you're loosing energy (calories) and you need to retake them.
Now, lets say you jump rope for 1 hour (Approximately 1000 calories burnt at a fast pace)
Then you finish and your hungry, you say
"Well, I just burned 1000 calories, I can eat a Big Mac combo"...
Well, guess what, the Big Mac combo has over 1k calories (with fries, not including if you take cola, which is even more)
Cardio alone will not make you loose weight. Its only half of the battle, people need to LEARN HOW TO EAT.
America is obese because all the McDonalds and fast food locals around the united states.
People just don't know how to eat.
They eat chips, burgers, and all kind of fatty foods...
Its really, a shame that someone dares to post that article. It is completely false.
Exercise and a good way of eating is the ONLY way to having a lean toned body.

Oh god... :D Please, PLEASE find the person that told you that and prevent them from giving out any exercise advice in advance.

1. you cant burn belly fat. You burn fat. Period. It burns evenly over your whole body.

2. Muscle tissue is what burns fat. It increases the body's metabolism rate and feeds of the fat. More muscle mass you have, more calories you will burn. So best exercise for fat burning is whole-body weight lifting, for both male and female.

3. Walking for 30 min will burn as much fat as lying on your couch for 1 hour. It is ineffective, doesn't stimulate body metabolism, doesn't help grow muscle and makes your body hungry for more food, aka. makes you gain more than loose weight.

4. "Fat burn zone" and "cardio zone" on fitness machines are bullshit. If they worked, the US wouldn't have 50% obese population. Believe me, if nothing else, do body weight exercises, such as squats, pushups, pullups etc. and you will burn more fat in 15min than you would in a week of walking.

That is not true. Overall energy consumption is what burns fat. If you have more muscle mass then you will spend more energy of course but it is not the only way.

The body use two types of fuel, fat and sugar. (Simplified of course.)

The fat you talk about are actually lipids stored in fat cells around your body, there is no way to burn fat in just one part, its all regulated by the body and we cant do anything about it. When lipids are used in any part of the body they can be released from the fat cells and be used elsewhere.

Different muscles use different types of fuel, the Conan the Barbarian type of muscles use sugar and the small but enduring muscles use fat. So Bonita is correctly informed in a way. I dont know about cardiac and that oversimplified crap but one of the best ways of burning fat is to walk. Actually walk, you can keep that up way longer than you can run. And it burns fat more than it burns sugar.

On the other hand it is also healthy to burn sugar.

Increased overall energy consumption is the key, along with a healthy diet. It is not good to starve yourself either since the body set course for starvation and stores as much fat as possible for hard times. Better to eat but to eat right.
