The two main types of game have got to be Day and Night Game.
With Day game being more direct than Night game.
Day Game:
Be more forward, within the day people are usually going somewhere or wanting to do something related to work, so if you give indirect openers and etc... You could only achieve the Lets just be friends zone (which no-one wants to be in).
So by being more direct you, it shows first confidence because every other man will be using In-direct game in the day, as well as originality.
I’m not saying that only direct material works, but for day game, directs material is the way forward.

Night game:
With night game, every-one is there to get hit on, so with in-direct openers and in-direct material, you will stand out, and go on to achieve more, as well as gain attention.
Until you have gained attraction, you need to use In-direct game.

The main difference that everyone sees with Day and Night Game is the ability to escalate the attraction further during night game.
However With the right Material you could achieve the same results as night Game.

I see your logic, but I think there are some things to draw attention to.

Day Game:
It's light out. No one is getting hit on repetitively and there is no alcohol involved.
That being said, I think day game at first, would need a more indirect approach. Start a conversation about something relative. Throw out some bait and once they start asking questions, next thing you know you are two people who have something in common. Close.

Night Game:
Girls are being hit on and they are drunk. Being indirect would more likely be ignored than a breath of fresh air for them. This is the time when you can be direct, and move the conversation and interaction to a sexual level without it seeming out of place...where as day game you almost want to make it a coincidence that you and this girl met.
