Do embarrassing stories make good conversation starters? I realize it is not best for an opener but I was thinking it could help keep the conversation interesting. Would asking a girl about her most embarrassing moment be an appropriate topic if you just met, say at a bar? I think telling stories is a great way to lead to teasing as well as getting to know each other personally. How could you neg a girl into telling a story if she is first hesitant?

First get some rapport before telling embarrasing stories about yourself unless you manage to make a DHV out of it.
Also with asking about embarrasing stories you should wait 'til you have rapport, if a stranger walked up to you and asked you to tell something embarrasing about yourself you would probably flip him the finger or something, no?
