I previously hosted a poker game with an attractive girl. I met her towards the beginning of summer, and knew at the end of summer she was moving. Sometimes we might make a flirty comment with slight contact. She began calling me semi-regularly just to chat, not about my games; she also asked me to teach her poker. At the time I was known as mediocre at poker. It never happened, as first I flaked and said I couldn’t make it when we were to meet for breakfast and then she got back w/her ex so was ‘busy‘; she broke up w/him again after a week. I suggested going to museum close to where we both worked during our lunch break and if that went well invite her on a real date, she said yes but when I called her was “too busy“ and a bit unfriendly. I didn‘t need this, so ceased contact. She eventually started calling me again to chat, but when I started calling her she became abrupt again so I stopped calling. I didn’t hear from her for a while but just under a month before she was supposed to leave she asked me if I‘d like to have dinner with her at her place in a few hours. At the table, she tells me that if I date most hot girls they won’t treat me well. I reply that it depends on the guy. After dinner, we put a movie and she calls another guy to come over and watch with us. I should’ve excused myself and left right there and moved on, but I attempted to be civil. I watched the movie, we talked for a bit, and I left. He was not good looking (he even called himself ugly), dressed raggedly and was likely a drug addict and going nowhere in life. I don‘t want to sound condescending, but he should not have been competition. To this day I am still confused at what happened. I wonder is this a situation where the dinner was to see if she felt anything, and if not bring in the guy to block anything physical from happening? Did I mess up before this dinner? I did not come on too strong, but might never have been aggressive enough. It's all done and in terms of the girl involved no big deal but I do want to learn from my mistakes in the future as I have no idea what I did wrong here.

But you couldn't understand this. In her frustration she called the shaggy guy at the end. I'm surprised she was so patient with you to be honest.

She called the guy after dinner but before the movie started, if that makes any difference. I thought wtf, I probably should've said let's watch this just the two of us? And if that didn't work just say I have to leave.
