I've been in Athens in the past few days for vacation and I am currently alone (brother will join tomorrow). In any case, I thought it might be a good opportunity to challenge my social skills and try to pick up women, something I have been mostly unsuccessful with during my life. I am experiencing some improvement, coping well with approach excitement (which used to control me), but I can't seem to be able to get the trick with these girls.

I've tried both a direct and an indirect approach. Direct usually got the chick to turn her back on me and walk. Indirect, even when a good conversation had taken place, leads to something like: "You know, I think you're really cute and would like to hang out with you sometime". In reply she would say "Sorry, no." or "Sorry, I can't". And that would be that.

I know it surely has to do with the fact that I have no wingman and no social proof. But still, there has to be a way to at least succeed half way rather than a total dismissal.

What could be the problem? Cheers.

This is the wrong mentality to have. Start looking at yourself, and not relying on things like a wing man and social proof which for the most part is just mental masturbation and often is completely irrelevant to seduction.

Focus on improving your own social skills, your ability to build comfort with girls quickly (on holidays this is essential that a girl sees you're not some awkward creep, and sees you're a fun guy on vacation who brings a positive vibe).

I haven't had massive experience with Greek women, they seem like tough cookies but I think Greek people aren't as open and friendly in general, they're rather cliquey.

I have been to a few of the Greek islands, the party islands and have met and fucked a few locals, with nothing different to a regular lay, but with regards to mainland girls, I have limited experience...although I doubt they're extremely different.

Point being, don't view them as difficult and that you're facing a taller task...it'll radiate off you. Go into every approach, regardless of country, girl etc. with your best foot forward and give it your full 100% and see where it goes.
