Hey Guys i really need you guys help.

So i broke up with my ex 8 months ago. She always had this friend, i also talked to while we were together - joked etc. (we all go to the same school). Recently i met her friend at a party and we talked and joke a little. Then she started talking shit about her friend (my ex) to me, and we kinda had a conversation about this (still joking etc).
Me and my friends moved on to another party whilst she went home.

I then decide to text her since i took her "diss" about my ex as a IOI.
We text the whole night while she is at home and i am out. Still just joking with eachother and not really flirting.
The next day we text a little bit again in the evening when i ask her if she is going out.

I need your help here guys. Since she is one of my ex's best friends i am really paranoid to start flirting with her etc.
I dont know how far i can go since i am afraid of her telling my ex, or their mutual friends. As of new its only friendly interaction.
Any tips or ideas to how i can get in contact with her again without risking these things? Convo starter etc.
How should i go about this? Any help is really appreciated.
