An elicitation of values to get to know her better and establish rapport. However, the girl told me that she felt like I was talking down to her, in trying to teach her things about herself. Like I thought I had some hidden knowledge that she didn't, and she told me straight-up that it put her on the defensive. Now normally when I run stuff like an EV or The Cube, it is well-recieved. So I'm thinking this may be a fluke. But I want to hear what you guys have to say.
Is this a common reaction to an elicitation of values? Has this happened to anyone else?
What are your suggestions?

I mean, unless you are a robot or read it from a piece of paper, you will include some variation in every delivery... It can be that you communicated your alleged superiority in a non verbal way... I try to balance the "smart" stuff with a joke such as "I saw this on Oprah the other day" or "I read it on a bag of peanuts"... This takes the edge off appearing smart and shows that you don't take yourself that seriously...
sideline: in my early game days I got the "You are so serious" line from many girls, and that killed my game... I switched character and included some jokes with every smart/serious thing I say, and it has been two years since hearing that line... hope this helps... Good luck!

The routines you are talking about are meant for entertainment purposes only.... they are bull shit. If you deliver them as a profound introspective experience into deep subconscious depth of personality, it will blow up in your face.
Also, you need to observe that girl's reaction all the way though your delivery. The moment you see she is getting on the defensive or uncomfortable, change gears and drop the subject. If she needed to vocalize her discomfort, you missed a hell lot of cues.
To calibrate, practice observing and consciously noting her reaction.
