I've heard the steps over and over

Qualify
Escalate
Close.

I know all the steps except qualify. Wtf does that mean and how is it done? Escalation is easy. I have a great routine for that. Closing is easy once you escalate. Approaching is just saying hi. But wtf is qualify?

Basically asking more personal questions so that you open up pathways of conversation that you can cross whenever you want. In doing so get the girl to say more about herself so that you know what kind of a person she is (in so far as a woman can be "understood"). Basically knowing the circumstances about her, for example if she is from a strict religious family, if she just got out of a relationship, if she lives on herself or with her parents, all these facts are useful information for your future game with this girl.

This seems like fluff talk. How can this be done in a set? You'd need to isolate first right? I do bar game mostly. Where does DHV come into play? And push pull

Unfortunately game is fluff talk. It's not so much about what's said in the conversation as about her reactions. You can tell a lot by her facial emotions for instance, and the way she moves her body. Push pulling and DHV is pretty much tech names for stuff most people do naturally. Like asking a question. If she answers and asks a question back, take that as an interest +1. Or you can say something mildly incendiary or a bit teasing, and if she takes it well she might challenge you as well. And have a little "game" like this. It's all Action-Reaction and indicators of interest.

This is honestly changing my entire outlook. I thought fluff talk was to be avoided. And now I'm hearing its an intrigal part of game.

How do you do this in a 2-3 set?

Qualifying in pick up is the same as qualifying in business when your trying to sell something.
You want to make the product seem like only a few people can have it.

PUA: Are you adventurous?
Girl: Yeah Totally
PUA: Awesome I love adventurous people. There’s just so much more fun. What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done? Don’t say running with scissors.
Girl: One time I went skydiving.

actually if you google search it, not trying to be rude lol, there are alot of awesome examples and descriptions!

Get a good wingman, preferably one that is happy to talk to more than one and distract, points if they will talk to ugly girls too, lol.

But honestly, if I was to suggest something I would say either just talk to the girl you want to talk to, or bring them back to you group of friends say something like "my friends are over there, want to come over and hang out?" Then focus on the one you like.

I'm by no means a master at this, but game is mostly body language and tone of voice. You can say anything witha smile on your face, with a relaxed and friendly demeanor and tone. Remember to stand and walk confidently too. At the end of the day, what you say doesn't really matter, what you do is who you are.

To be honest qualifying is not needed in most cases, qualifying is the same as getting a girl to seek your approval, think of when ever you have seeked the approval from a girl, you have just tried to qualify yourself.
