Hey guys, so I know the importance of holding court and providing good vibes/social interactions with new groups of people. I'm pretty good at all this... except when the set goes on a topic I'm not too familiar with. For example, I was in a 5 set today (harder to keep attention of more people), and they were stuck on a camp thread, with camp stories. I've never been to camp and didn't have much to say. Of course I threw in some witty comments here and there, and giving my opinion, but 2 options came to mind:

1. Change threads
2. Leave set

I don't really like either tbh. Here's why; If I change threads, I sort of kill the vibe and connection they're sharing. They'd associate that feeling with me from then on (I'm seeing these people in the future). If I leave the set, there isn't really any progress.

During the set, I used a "False Occupation Prop". We had coffee, so I would stir it and look/drink at it more often. That way I'm not perceived as the quiet/weird guy. With that, less time is put to me just standing there not saying anything, which is a DLV. The most common prop used I noticed is by far the cell-phone, but anything will do if you can make it work. I would even pretend to stir a sugar-cube in the coffee when I was done drinking it.

Tell me more about when your set's interest in you isn't that high, so they'll talk to each other, about each other more. What do you guys do in regards to an unfamiliar topic?

Any thoughts are more than welcome, and thank you for reading.

If they're talking about something you're not interested in then you should leave, if you stand around you're lowing your value.

If you leave the set you're making progress, you have just upped your value, they're boring you so you left, you can always go back later and talk about something more interesting.

Just don't be insulting about it.
