This is what works for me: Get into music. I got into Indie Rock / Folk. Lucky for me this style of music is real popular with 25 year olds - but pick what you like so it's genuine. It helps a LOT to have an iPhone bc you can access and learn about music faster.
For context, I go to dive bars all the time in Denver. Put $10 in the jukebox and play some really good music that you like. Incidentally, you'll like it because everyone is listening to what you played (power?) and you'll feel good because you like it.
Now go talk to who you are attracted to and ask them if they like the song that's playing. Maybe this is luck, but I've found a lot of girls that like the same kind of music as I do (note: choose a popular current genre of music I'd suggest. They're more likely to be excited about because it's new).
If you really like the song, you can tell her who sings it, and if they're coming to town. You can tell them if the whole album is good. You can tell them how great or shitty they were in concert. You can talk about other bands in the genre.
I found women really enjoy discussing music, it may give you something in common right away, and it demonstrates value to her. Plus if you really hit it off you could go to show together in the future. Music is also personal and emotional, so that doesn't hurt either.
Good luck out there! I'd like to hear feedback.
