I started reading Neil Strauss, then got into reading Mystery.. Then I picked up the book "How To Succeed With Women". Great stuff, they all differ a bit in opinions, but hey, we all do!
Hey! You know, this is very astute, because some people on here are stuck on "what's better". Some things are better than others, some just don't plain work at all, but I'm going to go ahead and say that literally every person who runs game has a little different system than the next. I've read what you're referring to. In fact, one of my jobs is at a book store, so I get a major discount, and I honestly own TONS of books on the subject. Each one is different, and I don't recommend them to people based on what has worked best for me. These books explain much the same thing as each other, but will present it in a different way. It's sort of like a "universal truth" type of thing that is interpreted by different people who explain it different ways.
Person 1 will read HTSWW and be totally enlightened.
Person 2 will read HTSWW and be baffled, but will read The A Game, and be enlightened in the same way, where as it was just gobbly-gook for Person 1.
So my recommendation is to keep reading (not just buying books, but also posts on here), and get as many perspectives as you can, so that you can piece together what perspectives work best for you, and you develop your own style.
