Hi Guys,

i'm new to The Game, i've been meaning to start for a while but always been putting it off. Now its time to take the plunge, i've been watching Videos from Neil Strauss and Mystery and been reading a lot. Ive watch about 4 hours of Video from Mystery and ive got about 6 hours more to watch. i really want to go out and try some stuff but i know i'm not ready yet, not for at least another few days maybe a week. should i practise talking in front of a video camera? or go out and start talking straight away.

i look forward to spending time here :)

Hey and welcome!

Training with a camera might make you a little too selfconscious, but on the other hand you could discover some annoying 'tics' you have and try to get rid of them. Just dont get too focused on it or you will come across as anxious/uncomfortable.

Also, its not too early to start already, just opening some sets and leaving them after your opener/a short talk can create some social proof already that you can use later on.

If you have approach anxiety, or if you're not sure, you might want to start doing the AA exercises found on this forum already!

Good luck bro,

Chillburg

Thanks Chillburg,

The reason i ask about the camera, is because i do amateur stand-up, and i film my stand-up routines and watch them back, to see where to improve what was too long/short ect. and thought maybe the same method could be applied here. but i understand there's no better practice than a live set.

AA is not to bad for me, i get nervous approaching new people but that quickly goes away as soon as i start talking, although i do make to many jokes (force of habit i guess) which is something i need to watch.

Iv'e come to the conclusion that. i have been shot down many times in the past, so now instead of letting it bother me, i am going accept it, learn from it and move on.

I just to try to use comedy to present myself as an Alpha Male type figure (before i researched about The Game) and realised. that doesn't work. i would use jokes to "talk down" other people, and although this was funny to my friends not such a big hit with everyone else, and plus when i was confronted or questioned on a joke, i would make another joke to cover it. I've only been practising a while, but i think tomorrow, i'm gonna hit the shopping centre and start doing some openers :)

Good that you know what you do wrong, thats a good start!
The whole joke thing..yeah...women love a guy with humor, but, if you only joke around it will make you look insecure, especially when you use your humor to 'attack' other people.
