I read The Mystery Method some years ago and applied much of its methods to surprising success. I stopped practicing because the rate of success was about as frequent as my usual rate (typically 7 new girls in bed a year unless I'm in a long term relationship) and I didn't like the guy it implied I had to become.

Also it was a lot of work. I found myself prepping to hang out in much the same way I prepped for meetings. Every word I said was predetermined and picked from a script like a telemarketer. By the end of the night I might have made out with some random girls and gotten some numbers but I felt tired from all the work, and felt like I hadn't had much fun.
The one difference between my regular self and my PUA self is that regular me got 6s and 7s but PUA me got 9s and 10s.

On a friend's recommendation I'm 3/4 through Strauss's The Game. It peaked my interest in that he went through a lot of the same doubting I did but decided to just go with it. So I'm gonna give this whole thing another try. I think my original mistake was not joining a Forum for support and better ideas than the ones in the book. I miss the 10s, so I'm here for help and advice. Thanks.
