Ok here is the deal, its a biggie, im in the bitish army and currently based in germany, thing is i dont even know how to speak german, so its rely hard to chat to chick (girls) here, but im learning german which will help i hope.
im rely shy can not talk to girl at all even the ones i work with, been reading the book the game and i want to learn as much about the game as i can.

Most people in Germany DO know ENGLISH. Its just people (especially women) use that as an excuse to blow you off....

The closer you are to an British or US base....The more likely people will speak English as the US/UK military is a big part of the economy and they will cater to us for our business...

But the more German you do learn the better your chances are w/ people....So def strive to learn as much as possible....Im just saying dont think that you NEED German to succeed w/ HBs there...plenty enough people speak english

Germans have been taught English in high school for a while now... Oxford English, actually. There are some, just like in any culture, who just don't grasp the concept of learning another language, and struggle with it, so learning ein bistien Deutsche won't hurt you.
