Read "The Natural" by Richard Luina. I feel like it has some realistic advice.

I also read "The Game" which is said to be the best but it kind of becomes a long story about the life of the author and has a confusing twist at the end that sort denounces all the advice that was given throughout the whole book. It was an exciting read and very well written but I don't think my game became much better after reading it.
