My name is Johann. Nice to meet you all. I am studying for a certain health degree in a foreign country. People here are friendly and social but they are very judgmental and conservative since it is mostly Catholic. I am generally friendly to everyone, outgoing, and am currently dating someone. I have no problems with anyone else that I can think of and get along with most people.

I do have a problem with a certain female classmate. Not anything remotely romantic. She is my rowmate since last year. I have never done anything wrong to her and just plainly ignore her. The problem is she always makes side/rude comments about me almost everyday on almost anything I do with an "Ew" or "Yuck" for stretching my arms, answering questions, or when I get romantically linked with someone. It is seriously getting annoying. Before when we started out last year another girl asked me if I would ever go out with her in front of her. I never answered because I wasn't attracted.

I let this problem slide because I thought a lot of young girls here were like that. She is 5 years my junior and just thought it's part of the culture. Now it's starting to offend me and I do not know how I should go about it. The hard part is that since she is my rowmate, I have to stick with her for another 2 years conducting research and other group projects. Not only that, she paints a bad image of me to my other rowmates who are all girls (all around 18-19 years old which is average for our year in college) and who I also have no choice but to be stuck with..

I've thought about talking to her one on one and asking her directly what her problem was. And if she did not comply, going straight to our dean. I really do not want to badmouth her in front of her or the class and I don't want to exact revenge because I hate drama. I haven't even told anyone about it either.


tl;dr

A female classmate has been being rude to me. It's starting to piss me off. I need suggestion on how to deal with her, trying not to be negative.
