Hi, new here, about a year ago I was traveling for work and one night while I was walking around a HB8 basically opened me outside a bar, and I screwed it up royally. I was asking a coworker of mine about what he thought I did wrong and this led to him telling me about "the book" which I then promptly picked up and read. Since then I have been wanting to get into pickup. The biggest holdup for me getting started is that I just can't seem to convince myself to go out and start spouting corny pickup lines that have been done to death.

I find a lot of times I can tell that a cute girl is interested and waiting for me to act, but I just never know what to say or do to start the interaction. Sometimes the girl will even come over and put herself right in front of me and I just stand there and don't say shit. I think my biggest problem is just talking.

I am very serious and focused and intense, and when I do talk to girls in bars it overwhelms them - I have had girls straight up tell me that the conversation is too serious many times. It's hard for me to just make "small talk". Once in a while I meet a chick who is intense like me and then we hit it off and it's easy but those are rare- and most of the hot chicks are not that smart frankly so they just want to talk about stupid crap that doesn't come naturally to me.

On the plus side I do actually do a lot of interesting stuff and I have a good career and make very good money, all that stuff is well in order I just need to learn how to communicate with cute girls so I can convey that information to them without sounding like a douche.

I have had LTRs with attractive women but I want to spend some time being single and enjoying it while I'm still young. My goal is to be able to just go out and pick up a cute girl and have casual fun.

If anyone can recommend a good way for me to get better at casual chatting, I'd appreciate it.
