Hey guys, I'm new here and have only just discovered the pick-up community after a friend of mine suggested that I read 'the game' so this is the start of my background reading on the 'art' of pick-up.

I actually do ok with women, I've always found that being sociable is fairly easy and I have a formula that seems to work pretty well with women (mostly in clubs/bars) so hopefully I'll have some value to bring to the table here as well as trying to learn some nuggets from you guys.

As I type this e-mail I have literally just got home from work, and I'd like to share a pick-up that I literally just pulled on a girl on the train on the way home, I'm dubbing it the 'iPad pick-up' - I've no doubt that this is probably 'old hat' to you guys but hopefully someone can relate to this.

So, I work in central London and I live about a 20 minute train journey out from one of the main central London stations. Today, some selfish pr*ck decided to throw himself in front of a train at a nearby station which meant that as well as giving the train driver nightmares for the next 6 months, he inconvenienced hundreds of thousands of commuters.

Aaaanyway, so I'm sitting on this train waiting for it to leave the station (already about 30 minutes late) and I'm tapping away on my iPad as I do most days and I notice that the girl opposite me is really pretty. We're in a packed train though and I don't want to initiate rubbish chat in front of about 50 judgemental people so I do this...

First I open the 'Drawing Free' app on my iPad which is a basic 'paint' program that allows you to draw on the screen with your finger and I write.... "Boring train journey, huh?!". I turn the screen around so the girl can see and after a few seconds she notices and reads and kind of looks at me and shrugs a "yeah... I guess so" kinda shrug.

I turn the screen back and start a new picture and write "To pass the time I'm going to draw a picture of you... ok?" *flip it back to her*.

She smiles and nods

Then I write.... "Hold very still".... (by this point I'm getting a bit nervous but trying to look as cool as possible)... *flip it back for her to read*

She smiles again...

Then I start drawing a picture. Every so often I look up at her and slightly squint as if I'm studying every angle of her face...

I draw a really basic picture of a stickwomen with long hair and a big smile. Next to the drawing I write "semi-pretty girl on train"

I flip it back... she lets out a little laugh and says "thank you" and smiles again

Then I draw a picture of a stickman and a stickwomen each with a drink in their hand and big smiles on their faces and I write "I think we should go for a drink..."

She smiles again.

Then I flip is back and write:

" Name:_______________

Number:_____________"

and I pass the iPad to her.

Hey presto it comes back with her name and her number. Right on cue my station arrives and I wink and stand up and she says "it was less boring" (in an awesome french accent).

I wish I could say that I'm always this successful but I'm not, this was just a moment of boredom-inspired inspiration. I guess it was a combination of humour, originality and confidence that makes this approach a winner, but I'm sure you guys will break it down for me.

All thoughts welcome, and a big Hello!

that's a good one. You got the from David DeAngelos right? Because I remember him telling that story in his Approaching series.
