I'm from New Jersey. Age 26. I was a math tutor, and one of my students started talking about Neil Straus - The Game. I looked into it, and saw that Mystery was the originator, and researched that his "The Venusian Arts Handbook" from 2005 was the original publication. Read it and was jaw-dropped at how non-sleezy/scientific it was. Maybe it's just my area, but I find that girls tend to be really stupid and spoiled so that the old saying "just be yourself" doesn't quite cut it. I couldn't stand being lonely anymore, and so I decided to throw myself into the game.

I've only been consciously in the game for about 4 months now. I actually just finished reading the book just now and it inspired me to get more serious about it so I made an account here. I'll be honest, I suck at this game. I'm not even ugly either. I actually tend to get a lot of girls interested just based off my looks alone. But I don't know how to take advantage of that. I consciously notice when girls have interest in me, but I'm horrible/shy at opening sets. I know that as soon as a girl senses you're awkward, then you're totally lost. I've managed to get a few numbers, but I manage to always make it seem awkward when I ask them to meet up again so that they al flake on me. The one time I did get to the comfort phase, I initiated the sex phase too soon. Won't make that mistake again. My main problem is getting over my fear of opening sets.

I can relate on the nervousness to opening sets, but you just have to force yourself through the pain periods as I'm sure you've heard. I'm new but if you're looking for a 30-day walkthrough/routine book, I would suggest Neil's newer book "Rules of the Game" A lot of great material and step by steps there.

Yeah, that's actually the first book I ran into, but someone told me that I should first read his original book "the game" or it won't make a lot of sense. Like I said, I took an extra step and decided to read Mystery's original book "The Venusian Arts Handbook". Should I read his updated version, "The Mystery Method: How to Get Beautiful Women Into Bed" ? And should I read Neil Strauss's "the game" first? Or do they all basically say the same thing as the Venusian Arts Handbook and I'm safe to skip right to the 30 day program and check out the other 2 books later?

I haven't read Mystery's books yet, but I've read The Game, and The Rules Of the Game, and yhea you should read The Game to, because it gives a lot more (background) information than The Rules.

But The Game isn't just a book about 'how to pick up women', it is more a story about Style's life his first 2/3 years in the Pickup Community. And if you pass the first half(then he's a mPUA), its begins to bore..

A great thing to do is watch The Pickup Artist, there you can see AFC's become PUA's, and you can see a lot from the MM in action:)
