Yeah, there seems to be a thing about unavailable men that alot of girls are attracted to...maybe it's the challenge, maybe it's the safety of knowing it won't really go anywhere so they can enjoy the flirting.
Who knows. Maybe it's because available men give off different signals...too keen and on a mission.
Glad to hear you have a successful wife, sounds nice to me!

I don't wear my ring as much anymore either.
Fortunately or unfortunately, I don't have that much in common with strange women anymore. My wife and I don't have any kids, and built a log house out in the woods a few years ago.
The vast majority of women I run into are shall we say, quite reserved and socially controlled especially here in the south/bible belt. Every now and then I will run into an exceptional outgoing personality. But it's rare and they are usually from somewhere else.
Commonality is important.
If you've got something neutral in common with a woman that gives you some cover other than being just another stranger looking to get laid, you've got a lot better chance of her reaching a comfort level with you.
Workplace romance is always an iffy proposition and a great way to get fired, which I learned the hard way on a couple of occasions years ago when certain women in more powerful positions took a fancy to me, but I didn't share in their passion. The real kicker, I never got any (that's probably why). I never said it was easy being a guy either.
Oh and you thought this only happened to women.. Nope. You should have seen the faces down at the unemployment office when I tried to tell them I was a victim of sexual harassment.

Yeah, they thought it was funny too.
Congrats on the new job. Hope everything works out for you..
Oh well, back to the vacuum cleaner..
