That sucks what happened but its awesome that you realized that there is another way and went for it unlike alot of others in your situation who just give up.

Learn from alot of people and choose the MPUA (master pick up artist) that suits your style of game:

-NLP (Neuro linguistic programming) referred to as technology.
-Mystery method and other methods
-Style's FMAC model (Neil Strauss) Find Meet Atract Close... etc

Above all else treat it like a glorified hobby, have fun and ask alot of questions, everyone loves to help.
