During my interview, Jason enthusiastically recounted a story in which he was hired as a driver for a one day shoot on Bruce Springsteen's private ranch. Throughout the shoot, the asshole director denied him lunch and bathroom privileges, and instead instructed him to stay in the van. These instructions were blatantly ignored. When Jason had to shit, he shit in Bruce's driveway. When Jason was hungry, he invaded the ranch and ate from Bruce's fridge. When Jason was bored, he flirted with all the girls on set. Eventually, Jason tired of the gig and drove the van back to NY, stranding the director at his precious ranch.
This salesman gig I was hired for was commission only, yet Jason always had extraordinary numbers. At work, while on the road, he would flirt with girls, number close and sell our product. At night he would f close girls from the previous day, then leave town altogether. He was full of techniques and raunchy stories, and had girls in nearly every city he traveled. I quickly became enamored of him, hypnotized by his deep blue eyes and soothing voice.
Though he gave me countless tips, I never number closed any girls while on the road, nor did I make many sales. I was certain that Jason was special, and I was not.
Very recently, a friend (another natural) lent me a copy of The Game by Neil Strauss, which I devoured within a week. I joined this community as an interactive supplement to the book, with hopes to better my life so that someday I can better the lives of others.
