So, I was at this club last night with some friends and a few people I didn't know (friends of a friend), and one of my mates was trying to pick-up this girl. Being the nice guy I am, I decided to be his wing, and sitting down next to him and his target, I ended up sitting next to my mate's target's friend. We hadn't spoken to each other at all that night, so she decided to start a conversation, which I shall reproduce here:

Her: Hi, we haven't really spoken yet. What's your name?

Me: Mike.

Her: I'm Emma. [We shake hands] So, what do you do?

Me: I study Philosophy and Politics at the Uni.

Her: Oh really? Sounds interesting. What's your star sign?

Me: [Suprised by the tangential question] Umm... Gemini.

Her: Are you lying?

Me: No... Why do you want to know? Are you into that astrology stuff?

Her: Not the crap in the magazines. The real stuff.

Me: Fair enough. What does Gemini mean then?

Her: You're confident, fun, like being the centre of attention and enjoy socialising and meeting new people.

Me: [Amused by the cold reading] Wow, that's pretty good. What about you?

Her: I'm an Aries. It means I'm aggressive, strong ... (some other stuff I can't remember).

Anyway, after this conversation (it didn't lead anywhere - I wasn't interested), I told my mate about it and he laughed, suggesting that she may have read The Game. I found it pretty funny myself. Cold reading... Come on. She should have realised, after I told her I study Philosophy, that that sort of stuff won't work on me. Philosophy students are generally too rational for such mysticism and can recognise truisms in an instance.

Very Happy

She was being social and not awkward by sitting next to you and saying nothing. I don;t really understand this FR, if anything it would have been perfect practice for you to practice on a person that you think read the book. I think of it as a wasted opportunity.

I don't think that it means she had read the game at all. A lot of people, especially women are into astrology, and asking people their sign, and telling them what it means has been a popular pickup line since the first hippies.

Yea, I would actually doubt that she read The Game. Some girls are just like that. One of my best girlfriends will literally talk to anyone at any time...it's just not a very popular thing.

Since we're on this subject and I cannot post a new topic yet (30 post rule)...here's one for everyone...

I found this girl online at plentyoffish and she has a really extensive profile there. Anyway, at the end she says:

"So, in detail, tell me about your last long term relationship and what happened? Where did things go wrong? What did you learn? What will you do differently next time you are in a relationship? What do you wish you could have changed about yourself during that relationship? What do you wish you could have changed about her in that relationship? Based on what you learned from that relationship, what are five specific pieces of advice about relationships in general that you wished someone had told you before you started dating?.....Yes, gentlemen, it's a challenge. And if you don't answer these questions, I won't reply to you."

I personally think it would be totally AFC to go through and answer all those questions. It's her version of making guys qualify themselves to her...so she's playing the game as well. I respect her angle, because having girls qualify themselves to me is great, but I don't want to be a part of it on the other end. Any suggestions?

Make up things that could be plausible, but seem strange in some way [not the creepy way]

1) LTR and what happened - I met this girl on a train going to Venice, we made love in a field - blah blah blah [rent Before Sunrise and Before Sunset for ideas]
2) When did things go wrong: She couldn't leave her job as the train hostess, so after having stayed a year in Europe I had to come back to Canada/US/Peru/Guatemala [wherever you are]
3) Changes to yourself - physical geographic location, maybe a nipple piercing
4) Changes to her - physical geographic location, maybe an nipple piercing
5) Five pieces of advice - train conductors are slutty, get a nipple ring, etc.
6) Now that I've answered your questions as honestly as possible, I think you owe me a first contact

This happened to me a couple weeks ago in a bar at commercial Street.
A tall 8 with a pierced tongue was giving me the whole reportoire. She opend me with a standard opener, was highfived me, complementing my jacket, wanting to read my palm, asking to take pictures with me (serious face, happy face, kiss face) etc but when I cut to the chase she backed off completely, saying she was out with her work mates and some other womanese. I did not even got her number.
Was she a lone weirdo of there is some kind of underground movement here?

Maybe girls are catching on. But no matter, they haven't been prepared like we are. You see how easily everyone posting caught on quickly. It's pointless to do those techniques on us. lol, don't worry, they'll realize they can't fool us. Twisted Evil

Interesting that you were weirded out by the experience. Was it that you recognized the routine or that the experience itself was a little contrived? I feel like if your internalizing this stuff and really making it your own, I.E. getting creative, there isn't anything for girls to "catch on to".

Dude, chicks do this all the time. It means, among other things, that they *think they want to* like you and are trying to start a conversation. Go with the flow or neg the crap outta her, however you wanna play it, play it.

Her opening you is an IOI, and I think she was doing that not really "gaming" you. If she truly was gaming you, she'd of opened you a lot better.
