This is what I posted in the thread for the NLP introduction manual by xfman in the PMZ.

how well does nlp work? i mean if it worked really well wouldnt advertisers use it? or maybe they just dont know about it yet? i dunno... i'll read this and try some stuff out.
Advertisers do use NLP. So do you, you just don't know it yet. NLP isn't a trick or a routine, NLP is the way that visual, auditory and kinesthetic (touch) stimulis affect people, with the focus being on speech mostly, but utilizing all 3 and to a minor degree the other 2 senses taste and smell. Learning NLP is just a way to be a master of how your outputs affect other people and being able to read their outputs in order to better understand them and in turn modify your outputs to further achieve the results that you desire.
NLP is defnitely something that you should spend effort learning if you desire to be not only a good PUA, but a more effective person in social or business settings. I recommend starting with Introducing NLP by Joseph O'Connor and John Seymour.
Don't be fooled into thinking that you need to use specific patterns and routines in order to utilize NLP, because the difference between saying "anyways" and "after all" can make a huge difference in how someone interprets your message and that is the point of NLP, to learn how to make people interpret what you say the way you mean it (because most of the time they don't if you don't know how to deliver your message properly) and so that you can truly understand what they are saying, in the subtext as well as the main text.
Hopefully that explains a little more about NLP to those of you that aren't yet aware of it's power. Remember though, the gun analogy that was mentioned above is quite apt, because it is how you use it that determines whether it is good or evil.
