| In the last night I have had more success with complete strangers than I have before in the entire rest of my life. This utterly bizarre night just so happens to have been preceded 10 days ago by reading an XKCD cartoon about 'The Rules' and 'The Game'! I immediately read both and am working through the recommended reading list.
Last weekend I practiced a little on a 4 hour train journey (3 different trains) by chatting to everyone. I used a 'niece pissed off because I forgot her Birthday, what would you get her to make up for it' opener which went down well.
This weekend, I utterly failed to do the newbie challenge when I wandered down the high street and couldn't even hold eye contact. This pissed me off a lot. Tonight, I made up for it. I used the same material as tested on the train. In the pre-club it didn't really work as well as the previous week, but was good for warming me up.
Once I walked through the doors into the club, I remembered what I was taught and tried to 'own' the place. I joked to a friend about an older HB9's dress that had a cord falling out. Remembering the 2 second rule, I wandered over and told her that her clothes were falling apart! Due to her being utterly drunk (and possibly drugged?) she was all over me. Within the minute, she was licking my neck. At this precise moment, I had just had more success in a club than ever before in my life (thanks trainer PUAs!). She led me over to a quiet corner. I screwed up the number game by forgetting to tell her than the number had to be between 1 and 10. I said 7, she had 24 (note to self, next time, tell her 'that's crazy as that's my favourite number too'). I then did the Mystery finger twirling thing before leaving her and getting a kiss on the cheek. That worked a treat. Unfortunately, all my friends had been standing 4 meters away taking pictures. This meant that me leaving involved about 4 steps. After chatting for a minute and being told by friends to get straight back in, I decided to follow the PUA advice and leave her; make her miss me. I went outside and chatted to some random fashion designers (the niece story worked great here).
When I came back in, this girl spotted me, came over to my group and started grinding up against my mates. Remembering (I find it's better not to take a copy of 'The Game out sarging) the PUA training manual, I turned my back and walked away. This was not helped by friends running after me and pointing at the girl. After telling them that pointing to the girl any more would demote them from friends, I moved on. I didn't see her again all night.
A couple of intermediate pointers I discovered:
- The cube does not work well on a girl who's done it before and is not into 'that stuff'
- Telling a girl that stroking me before I know her name is not on. I get her name, she strokes me some.
- Folding a rose from a napkin is the best thing I've ever learnt from youtube!
- If you can't remember names, at least remember faces/clothes: I couldn't find drunk girl at all due to this.
After regrouping with female friends, I spotted an 8 who kept glancing my way (possibly at the mirror behind me). Just holding her gaze and grinning did the trick for a while, but I decided to have a punt. The next time she glanced my way, I pointed at me then did a 'shucks' movement (flicking the hand). I then wandered past her and as I did so told her that it was rude to stare. I was hoping to pique her interest. 20 minutes later I saw her again. This time, I changed character completely and made a napkin rose (my 4th of the night). After giving this to her, she wanted to know how to make them, so I told her to buy me a drink. She told me that she had no money. I told her that if she gave me her number, I'd teach her. She agreed, I reached for my phone and realised it was in my coat that was in the cloakroom. Averting disaster, I gave her my number which she instantly called so I got her no. too. 1st number close. Oh Yes! (At this point, I was mildly surprised not to see banners fall out the curtains, confetti stream down from the roof and a man present me a trophy for winning the game). I told her to look forward to our next meeting and got a kiss on the cheek.
For the rest of the evening, I tried one or two other set pieces, including telling a girl that she should keep standing in front of a fan cause it made her flowing hair cooler. Having had enough, I decided to camp out with my friends for the rest of the night. As I got settled in, one of the girls (HB8) my mate was dancing with had seen me 'own' the place and she started stroking my chest as soon as I got close enough. I would have number closed her too if my friends hadn't all decided to leave as she went off to get drinks (number close early people!).
To top it all off, every time I went wandering between groups, about 25% of those girls I passed stopped me to chat/dance/stroke to/with me.
All in all, I reckon this was quite a success as this was only my second time out playing the game!
Thanks to one drunk girl inspiring my confidence, I have just had the best night of clubbing in my life. Thanks PUA community!
