I have trouble approaching and opening a set because I get a strange kind of approach anxiety. No matter what opener I think of, and I've heard of a lot of openers that do sound quite good, it always seems to me that it isn't something someone would do unless they were interested in them.
For instance, opinion openers are fine, assuming that the set with the target is literally the closest group of people to where you start. Otherwise you've just crossed the room to ask this group of people a quick question that you could ask anyone.
Or the 'did you guys see the fight outside?' opener. It seems to me that only someone with no one else to talk to would come up to a random group and ask that, and then you come across as someone with no other friends.
I felt like a right idiot when I was trying to open sets last night. |

Girls are not stupid. If you go up to them and start talking to them, they know what's up. You just have to be direct, at least that's my belief.
You pretty much can't con them into thinking that you're just trying to start a conversation with them and you aren't interested at all. They know what you're doing. |

OK...I knew what your problem was right away.
Do you think that the best stand up comic of the world, is good because of his jokes?
The comic's jokes are not what makes him the best, its a combination of factors that make him good, like his body language...etc.
No opener will help you overcome AA...in fact, nothing will help you overcome it. The best of the PUAs of the world fell AA every time they open....its a fear carved on your psyche.
The only "cure" for AA is to open quickly. The 3 secons rule, open the sets as soon as possible.
Mystery compares AA with getting in a pool of cold water, will be unconforable at first, but when you start swimming, you will get used to it, and feel ok. So the sooner you start "swiming", you will feel AA for shorter time.

Im sorry, but thats BS!!!......openers are not designed for specific situations, you just use them or dont. If you feel stupid, thats just AA, mixed with a couple of your insecurities. |
