If your muscles get dehydrated, they are more prone to injury. Hydration also facilitates the increase and maintenance of muscle mass. Make sure you are eating enough calories. There are online calculators available for determining how many calories you need to eat in order to gain a given amount of muscle in a certain time frame. Take advantage of one of these tools, and use it to tweak your diet so that it includes optimal amounts of protein, carbohydrates, and other nutrients that will increase your muscle mass.
