I went out to to dinner with my family and some of my parent's friends for my dad's birthday tonight. No one at the table was near my age but the waitress was an HB8 that I recognized from college. I had arrived later than others and when she came over to take my drink order I told her that I think we were in a class together at one point a few years ago. She didn't remember, but we fluffed for a bit about school and teachers that we had. When she took my food order the conversation went as follows:
Me: do you like seafood?
HB: yes, I do
Me: oh good, well then would you recommend the pan seared scallops or the crab encrusted scrod?
HB: well, I haven't had the scrod yet, but it seems to be popular and people seem to like it. I'd say go with that.
Me: thanks, I'll have the scallops
(her, and everyone at the table laughs)
I was with my family and I didn't want to bother her while she was busy, so didn't have a lot of time to run game on her but I tried to indirectly DHV the best I could while she was around. I entertained my one year old nephew and acted as the leader by collecting everyone's plates when it was time to clear the table and money when it was time to pay. After we all got up I took the book with the money (and a few gift certificates) across the restaurant to where she was by the register and said "I just wanted to make sure everything was all set with the gift certificates before we skipped out on you." she said that it should be set and that they were just like cash. I thanked her and turned to leave, took two steps, looked over my shoulder and said "hey, what's your last name?" She told me and I smirked and said "okay good, I'm going to myspace you" She said "okay!" and I left.
I probably should have just manned up and asked for her number, but I was proud of myself for even saying what I did. A few months ago I wouldn't even have been comfortable enough with myself to engage her at all or even walk across a busy restaurant to hand her the check. Anyway, I digress... if and when I find her online how should I go about contacting her? What should I say in a message? How long should I wait? |

wait 2-3 days - she is going to think "get a life" if u call/contact b4 that.
If u find her ask her how's is it going and blah blah blah following with " Im taking you out this weekend to try some scrod since we havent tried it"
remember not to ask her if she wants to go out, you giving her the power and control, you need to be in control and she needs to obey. |

I like what Giovani said. It brings her back to that moment when you were funny and made her laugh.
Myspace can be a crutch sometime. Go for the number next time, especially if yall had a good vibe. You asked the right thing but you needed to say number, no one can bat 1.000.
Good job on the myspace close, just remeber, advance advance advance until she says no. After doing the FB/MYspace/email close a few times the number thing just becomes really natural. |
