I just did my first approach tonight after many times of going with the intention and then pussying out. It's a club in england with really loud music so pretty much all rules of thumb go out the window i.e. - "Can I get an opinion?"
So basically I went straight in to a 4set went to the hottest girl who was obviously the mother hen of the group and asked if any of them were single ( I had just grinded with her friend for about 5 mins) I mean I know this wasn't the best way to approach and maybe you could call me an AFC for the way I did it. BUT I really don't care, this has been my first approach ever, I failed to pick up, you may say I did badly but I don't care. Yes I will have approach anxiety next time but the first one is out the way and I am not phased by my failure.
Also the girl was like "well one of us is, you will have to guess" and wouldnt tell me, so perhaps it didnt fail after all, I probably needed a witty response but it was 1am, I was drunk and it was my first ever approach so I didnt have one. (leave one below if you can think of one)
Well now basically it's 3AM, im drunk but it's all good. I conquered my first ever approach, I had anxiety like hell prior to this but this time I just swallowed my pride and went for it. To anyone with approach anxiety my advice is simple, just go for it. You will kick yourself the next morning if you don't do it and tomorrow morning I will be thinking, well dude you failed but you've still accomplished more than you did any other night.

 Good job bro -- going out is easy, but actually doing something while you're out there is not. Next challenge: do it without alcohol, and use a decent opener. |

yep for sure, I mean everyone drinks, ill maybe drink a little but I certainly wont be drunk. I was drunk last night because my plan was to go out and get wrecked, I hadn't planned on opening but it just happened.
Lol, my opener sucked and I know it. |

well done m8 on opening tis fucking hard 1st time around lol
iv only been doing this for about 2 weeks lol, the first time i approched and opened a set i did it with out my wingman (my brother who always opened the sets... so i am more his wingman) coz he was outside having a fag
i tryed to open a 3 set consisting of 9's and 8's and i opened with a opinionation
i have no idea what went warong during the opening but they just completely phased me out lol
i opened with "throwing a m8 a suprise bday... what theme"
and i have to say plucking up the curage to open my first set was probs the hardest thing iv done in my life. ok it knocked my confidance a bit but ill get over it lol |

Id have to say opening sets and dealing with approach anxiety is my biggest sticking point right now. congrats on the approach. I agree with Blues, i would stay aeay from the alcohol. Hindsight is always 20/20 but you got the set to open, your opener worked (i wouldnt stick with it) but it served its purpose. Then they asked you to guess which. i wouldnt jump through their hoop that early. not without any ioi's from them. hmm. its kinda tricky to think of what i'd do. I'd probably say you are and point at all 4 girls at one time and immediately change the subject to a DHV story. after that find out who are the bet friends in the group and run the best friends test on them. lock yourself in the set and get them talking. all of them will be having a good time with their new friend and the three taken girls will eventually actually try to play matchmaker and help you out. lol. sounds crazy but I've seen it work by a friend of mine in Boston.
