I must preface this by saying that I am very new to the community. Having said that, this is my first post and have been a lurker for only a few weeks. I put this thread into this forum because my line is pretty much an opener.

So i walked into starbucks mid afternoon and to my surprise the barista is a girl I went to HS with (HB8). I had one class with her in grade 12 and i don't know her name plus I was a such a AFC in HS.

So I walk up and open with "hey, hows it going" (original i know). She says the same in return etc etc.

She then asks me what I want and since I've been to starbucks maybe twice before. I say in return something like "uhh I've never been to starbucks before so i have no idea what I'm doing. What's your favorite drink?"

She starts listing off drinks and I randomly choose one and the size. She makes the drink, comes back and I pay (with giftcard... so not as obvious when I come back later I guess). She asks me if I want my receipt and I say "sure". Then I said the following.

AFC: Hey do you have a pen I could borrow?
HB8: yep
AFC: You know what? you seem pretty sweet. I'm going to write down my number in case you want to hang out sometime

I take the pen and write "911" and my name on the back of the receipt and hand it to her.

She smiles and says "how do i know this is really your number?"

IIRC I then say something really lame like
"I don't know... I guess you'll just have to believe"

At this point another customer is now waiting behind me so I smile and say something like

"Anyway I got to get going. Ill see you later" and lip "call me" with my hand telephone.

She says "bye" with her eye brows arched as I make my exit

So I failed pretty hard since I didn't get a number but I did kinda get my foot in the door.

thoughts?

wow she was DUMB! or busy/nervous. i thought the 911 thing was a great push/pull. maybe get the girl to actual look at the number and understand the joke by holding it up to her face with a big grin.

as far as this specific situation. her reaction next time you go in to starbucks will tell you. just keep the same jokester frame.

There's no reason you couldn't have gotten her number... If you were just relaxed and observing the actions at the time, you would've realized that she didn't get the joke, or simply didn't know how to react to it.. you could've even told her "take a good look at the number silly" then she would've laughed and felt stupid. then you can start negging herabout being slow (which would perfectly if she was blond). That would definately have broken the "starbucks line" ice.. You have lots of potential, and the way you went about it is great THe problem here is not what you said or what you did, but your mind state at the time. ou know damn well, that theres a million things you could've said to her before leaving. All PUA is interaction. None of it will work unless you observe whats going on.. SO next time make sure you build comfort first, chill with her for lie 4-5 minutes, and then ask for her number.. dont ever give ur number..

I'm confused....why on earth would you just not get her number on the receipt or write your actual number down?

thats actially funny but i dont have a clue why u didnt get her number. u should have asked her 2 ring u because u think u cant recieve calls and then u would have had her number and txt her the next day or something along them lines.
