What irritates and disappoints me, is that PUA claims that being a good-looking fellow does not give you any better chances.
I am sick, because everytime I try to hit on an attractive girl, I am always tipped for the top by somebody who just has natural good looks. No matter how witty, confident, funny, original and talkative I am. That just frustrates me BIG TIME.
Look at the best pickup artists - they are all reasonably good-looking fellows.

dude, its more complicated than that. You need to watch the nuance:

You don't have to be a supermodel. You just have to make sure your looks are "taken care of". So don't be fatter than average, wear fitting clothes, make sure you're groomed and take care of your body language etc.

take a good look at the five pictures above the forum. Gambler looks kind of feminine, Adam to skinny, Sinn looks a bti creepy and Sean and Johnny look a bit fat. No offense, of course. But these are just the pictures. If you meet them in real life, they probably have an aura of attractiveness around them, wich comes from inside beliefs and confidence. There are many posts on how to improve your looks and feel better about how you look "naturally".

think about that before saying life is not fair and giving up.

I understand that you're trying to chatter me up, thanks for that... But this is just common PUA bullshit.
Yes, true, some guys are born with natural charisma, that makes them look extremely attractive, but this happens once in a 10000.
Like I said, all I managed to achieve is that when I am trying to attract a girl, I always end up as 'interesting and funny', while my friend who has Timberlake like looks gets laid eventually.
Surely, luck and probability come into play now and then. But having sex with an attractive girl after 20-30 painful rejections does not do any good for me. I know, that once the smoke clears, I'll have to go that painful path once again. It's like cancer that's constantly eating me from inside.
I've realized that PUA is just another money-making industry, that makes nerds and losers believe they have what it takes, only they don't know it yet.
If you are an average looking guy, it won't give you any extra points.

And yes, I do look after myself. I go to gym, I watch my style, I go to expensive hair-dressing salons... It's all in vain.

And yes, it's always unpleasant when a girl has hostile and prejudice facial expression as you approach, but instantly smiles when someone with good looks is approaching her.

You consider guys like Style and Mystery to be "reasonably good-looking fellows?" Haha man you're worse off than I thought. And you are absolutely right; looks will always matter. You might as well give up now and stop trying with women all together since there will always be someone with a better body and more attractive than you out there. Heaven forbid you try the alternative and making the most of what you've been given, instead of complaining about your shortcomings.

I also believe that the PUA community over-exaggerates that looks do not matter. However, I am not as angst-ridden as you are over the subject. I think for the PUA community, this idea works becuase you have to think it works in order to be a successful PUA, if that makes any sense. Psychological studies have shown us that optimistic thinking as well as confidence makes the most difference, regardless of the actually verity of the statement or belief (Thinking to yourself you are attractive even if you are not would work better than thinking that you are not attractive) For example, the confident PUA mindset is a sort of polar opposite belief variation of the AFC mindset, in terms of outcome beliefs and "making up stories". We all fabricate stories in our head for almost all situations - especially with women ("why did she do this?..probably becuase I didnt do this etc etc") The key word is fabricate. The nature of these fabrications are based primarily on your mindset and beliefs. If you have a pessimistic mindset (AFC), you will believe a girl rejects you because she is for example...unnatracted to you physically, when it could in fact be another reason. The PUA does this EXACT same thing but in the opposite sense - you assume she rejects you for a reason that does not shake your confident mindset, when in fact she could have rejected you because she was not physically attracted to you. A PUA might get rejected lets say 4 out of 10 times - all of which he attributes to reasons that are not self-defeating (when in fact it could have been because of your looks).

I sympathesize with the topic starter in the fact that the PUA's I know are physically attractive (or dress so), which is typically the result of taking care of oneselves and improving the wardrobe. They do get women, and I believe a big part of is there physical attractiveness. I know for sure that I did not start getting attention from women until I started weighlifting and dressing well, my personality barely changed. Also, there are too many variables to consider in the attraction dynamics - mostly because women have difference preferences. I know women who think mystery is repulsive and women who think he is sexy.

Looks do matter. To deny that is like pretending that money and being older than her don't matter. Let it slide. You can only be who you are. Take pride in that. Now, being very attractive myself this is easy to say. So, hang in there.

Have you never seen the real geeky looking dudes with the hot chicks? I see it all the time. I'm talking about the really skinny, geeky looking kid with freckles wearing glasses with a really hot girl. You may not see it as much but it does happen quite often. A decent looking girl can pretty much get the hottest guys she wants, but then she might realize that the hottest guys are dull, don't really care about her, are just using her for sex, and so on... Of course this will depend on the age of the girls you are going for.

hes one of the fattest ugliest slobs ive seen, yet somehow, he can manage to pull off 3-somes with girls in their 20's. looks go all out the window with that guy, and he still gets laid.

Yeah as much as PUA's say looks aren't that important when picking up girls, it's always the first part of attraction. Mystery is a pretty good looking guy and thats why he can excel as well as he can, BUT if a guy looking like Christiano Ronaldo was a PUA its pretty obvious he would do way better than guys like Ross Jeffries and David X.

Don't worry. All of you can get sex. It is just that for some of us it is a lot easier. Maybe if you didn't aim for pretty girls? Start off with the ugly ones. That way you could gain some momentum.

We maintain that looks don't matter while at the same time telling each other we should dress certiain ways and critique each others personal style. This is hypocaracy to sheep in the herd. But guys with good sense of personal style don't need to ask anyone but themselves to know if something works for them.

As far as when looks matter, preferencial relativism comes into play on all sides. You, PUAF and different girls can have different preferences for what clothing/accessories/hairstyle fits you best. Where if you think your style is phukken awesome this attitude will show and your reality will take over.
Same ugly and pretty is relative to some extent. But lowering your standards to bitches you think are ugly lowers your self esteem, srsly. Be the guy who goes for the hottest one and maybe you'll at least hook up with her friend.
