Stepping down with a bit of dignity?

Ok, so anyway, was interested in someone, wanted to hang out more, flatmate let it slip what the deal was with me, things got weird, had it out last week, got the whole 'seeing someone else, dont really want a r/ship right now' bullshit.

Anyway, I was wondering if there was a good way to say something like 'look, I really thought you were ok to hang out with, i think we clicked, just wanted to see where it went, didn't really have any expectations'. I've been feeling like crap about this for a week (had a birthday inbetween and felt shitty), feeling like a huge loser and all that, want to put it behind me.

Anything so I can salvage at least some shred of dignity/self-respect would be great. Thanks guys.

I know it goes against the whole point of this place. I'm not working for a way to get around a LJBF or anything like that. As much as I'd like to, I've accepted what's happened. This is more about feeling better about the whole situation (i.e. inner game game) and taking a lesson from it more than anything else.

EDIT: actually, fuck it, not going to say anything.
