**After typing this out I decided it was probably too long winded but given the effort I'd put in I wanted to post it anyway. So, as a compromise with myself (psycho-analyse that if you wish) I've added a much shorter version in bold typeface at the foot of the post.**

I started a new job about six months ago in a small office within a fair sized office block. In my first week I noticed SO MANY cute girls wandering around the building, I was amazed, didn't know where to look, I was like a one-eyed cat in a fish shop!!! One particular girl stood out though, an HB8+ from another company who I saw walking down the stairs whilst I was walking up. I am not great at cold approaches, in fact I'm borderline socially-retarded in that respect but I 'ALWAYS' smile at a girl if I find her attractive in the hope she'll open me (this is my main sticking point which I fully intend/hope to remedy.) On this occasion she smiled back.
Anyway, it wasn't until a couple of days ago that I was presented with an opportunity to speak to her, once again it was on the stairs between our respective offices. She was walking down so I stood aside on the landing to let her pass (not because she's obese or anything!) and, as per standard protocol, I smiled at her. She gave me a REALLY cute smile, looked away briefly and then looked back, held eye contact and smiled again before continuing down the stairs and out of the building. I didn't say a word and purely because of the possible interest she showed I've regretted it ever since.
This is where I need your help, what do I say next time I get a chance to speak to her??? I have been tearing my hair out trying to think of a way to open her next time I see her and bearing in mind the infrequency of our encounters I'd really rather not fuck it up too impressively, it could be a long time before I get a chance to redeem myself. I know there is no such thing as a fool proof opener, that's why most of us are on here in the first place, so I'm really just after recommendations. The only thing I have ruled out is simply saying "Hi" or "Hello" because if she just replies with the same it'll just seem like a step backwards.
