I'm not talking about just keeping in average shape, I'm talking about striving for a six pack and muscles?

For instance, Jude Law and David Beckham's bodies in the photo below are pretty average - just reasonable eating and some limited amount of working out and you can get a body like these...

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=pierc ... B400%3B400

Is it worth doing any serious working out to get a better body than that? I mean counting calories, eating certain amounts of protein/carbs/fat per meal, doing a very strict and time consuming schedule etc.? Either to get to Brad Pitt in Fight club type standards (very low body fat, completely ripped/shredded), or going more muscular like the Gerard Butler in 300 type looks?

So obviously having a body like those in the first picture (better than the average 'out of shape' bloke, but not exactly athlete standard) will get you more girls than the usual bloke on th street.

However, is the difference between "fitter than average out of shape bloke" and "athlete standard" all that important? And given how much hard work and strict diet, spending loads of money on the right foods etc. it takes to get to the athlete level - is it worth bothering with getting to athlete level? Or would you be better off getting to the "fitter than average out of shape bloke" level and then enjoying yourself more and working on other areas of your game instead?

really depends on what you want from your health & fitness. No it doesn't really matter much. Some girls even say they like a lil fat on their men. Just do what you feel comfortable with and keep your health in mind.

About a year ago I had a better body than both Jude Law and David Beckham in those pictures. But I didn't do any strict diet other than eating healthy food and go to the gym. Using my "method" I would say that it is definitely worth it! Both for the sake of your health and your looks. Nowadays I have children to take care of and don't have the time to go to the gym. :(

Go to the gym four times a week the first three months. After that three times is enough if you want to slowly gain more muscles and burn more fat. Two times a week is enough to maintain your current state.

Four times a week may be a little bit extreme (well, not really if you have the time), but needed as a kick start to get in shape. Focus on a few muscle groups every day/session, one hour excercise per session, and do some cardio in between to burn fat. I did it like this:

Day 1 - Chest, triceps, shoulders, abs.
Day 2 - Upper + lower back, biceps.
Day 3 - Legs + abs (again).
Day 4 - Cardio.

About food, focus on slow carbs as in the GI method (you should always do this for the sake of your health, no matter if you are on some diet or not) and much protein to build muscles. Fat is ok (required) in decent amounts. Avoid fast carbs as sugar. In fact, this "diet" is the way I eat everyday and not a diet to me. About alcohol, keep it down to a few drinks, two times a week at most, and you are good to go.

All down to your personal opinion, I am 6 2 but weigh 9 1/2 stone, I can pull easily but it might be down to looks, if your game is good you will be fine. Use exercise as a hobby, if you are in decent shape it's fine. Don't get too paranoid about build..

if youre only motivation for working out, you are not going to lift for long! :P
I started for that reason, but now i have moved over to think about myself and now i am more than average fit (i am currently bulking)!

But if you are going for it, go 100% in, count calories, i recommend using My Fitnesspal", it calculates your macros, all protein, carbs, fat, calories and so on. Hit the gym hard, i workout 4 days a week. Eat a 200-500 calories surplus for maximum musclegrowth, sleep enough and train right.
I run a 4-split:
monday - chest and tricep
Tuesday- legs and abs
wednesday- back and biceps
thursday- shoulders and traps.

Make sure your form is good, if you lift the big five you don't need to train abs directly more than 1 time a week. when bulking, stay away from cardio, but when the cuttingseason come, go hard on the cardio. but cardio have never hurt anybody, so do it if you want.

You will get a great body, YOU will feel great, you will get looks in the summer, at the beach, when you are wearing a tanktop, and women will like your body.

good luck on the training!

Absolutely! I have gone period without working out and kind of lost energy, but didn't really realize it because I was so busy with work, projects, etc. Then I would get back into a good routine and realize how much it helps your MIND and CONFIDENCE... not just your body. So in my opinion, totally worth it

Hey man I'm gonna suggest you take up a martial art. I would personally recommend Muay Thai or boxing simply because the training will get into the shape you're looking to be in. The training will also help improve your mental disicipline. Not only that, but a martial art is a dhv gives you cool stories if you want to use it as such I prefer not to, but that's just me.

Anyway hope that helps good luck!!
