I opened my first set tonight. I'm kinda proud of myself. What I did, is I saw a girl I liked, she was with another girl. I walked past them (they were leaning against the wall outside the club) and I did an over-the-shoulder, and I opened with this:
Hey, did you get any people coming to your house tonight? (because it's Halloween)
Then, she did some talking. Unfortunately, I was only in the set (is talking with a single girl considered a set? Her friend walked away) for a couple minutes. By the way, if her friend walks away, is that a bad sign? But, I was amazed at how the Mystery Method worked. I guess if I hadn't done an over-the-shoulder, and just went up to her directly, it would freak her out. But as Mystery puts, doing over-the-shoulder doesn't trigger that freaked-out response. Pretty cool.
But my problems are in general; openers. I'm not very creative. I have a hard time coming up with openers. And then once I do the opener, I have to obviously kino. Light touch on the outside part of the arm. But then you have to do what, an escalator right? Then DHV (I have a hard time with that too).
Another question I want to ask, is if you don't have much of a social life (no friends), how do you DHV? Can it be done? I have a couple of friends, but thats about it. You obviously can't demonstrate social value if you have no friends right?
And what do you do if the club is too noisy? I had to go outside where it was more quiet. But I feel like I should be able to it inside the club too.
