I've been reading and thinking a lot lately, and I heard something on an ad for that movie RockNRolla. Mr. Madonna (Guy Ritchie) started talking about hubris.

This is the definition from wikipedia, since I'm a lazy bitch:

"Hubris, sometimes spelled hybris (ancient Greek ὕβρις), is a term used in modern English to indicate overweening pride, self-confidence, superciliousness, or arrogance, often resulting in fatal retribution."

Hubris was a legal term used in acient Greece, and it was considered a crime, to the point it was also considered the greatest sin. That was so because it was not only proof of excessive pride, but also resulted in violent acts by or to those involved.

The meaning was eventually further generalized in its modern English usage to apply to any outrageous act or exhibition of pride or disregard for basic moral laws. Such an act may be referred to as an "act of hubris", or the person committing the act may be said to be hubristic. Atē, ancient Greek for "ruin, folly, delusion," is the action performed by the hero, usually because of his/her hubris, or great pride, that leads to his/her death or downfall.

So....what does that means for pick up?

It basically explains why cocky-funny and rebel attitudes work in the world of attraction.

The handicap principle, is a hypothesis originally proposed in 1975 by biologist Amotz Zahavi. To get laid animals (and humans) use signs during courtship to prove thay are the best possible sexual partners, tho prove they have a trait that makes them better. He said that those signs must be costly to the signaller. So an individual with less of that trait could not afford the sign.

Thats why peackoks wear those useless tails. That doesnt helps it survive, actually the tail makes the poor guy slower. He's saying "Im so good that I can give predators a head start".

So back to hubris, perhaps one of the most vivid examples of hubris in ancient Greek literature is demonstrated by Achilles and his SPAM of Hector's corpse in Homer's Iliad. Achilles killed Hector in revenge. Not only did he kill him, but he stripped Hector's corpse and dragged it around behind his chariot, threading leather thongs through Hector's ankles. Although the Greek forces were appalled by his SPAM of this other hero's corpse, he was unrelenting. Priam, king of Troy, had to come and kneel at Achilles's feet and offer him Hector's weight in gold before he could convince him to give up the body. Once the body was gone, Achilles had time to ponder the fact that it was prophesied his own death would come soon after Hector's.

So Achilles had it coming, he acted with such pride and disregard for morality that the gods punished him. There's wisdom there. Think about some cavemen, there's one of them that is acting a little bit too cocky and the alpha male is getting annoyed. Eventually someone is going to show the cocky guy how things work.

Two things might happen, the AMOG wins and everything will be alright, or the hubris caveman wins and he'll become the alpha male.

So beta females would do a smart if they hang out with the cocky caveman "cause he's got a chance to get to the top you know".

Rock stars, rebels and your average though guy have benefited from this since the dawn of civilization. I mean, even gladiators had groupies.

Being bad is not recommended. It comes from learning things the hard way. Living a life that knocks you around and leaves one with an attitude.

I can't give you techniques on how to be a bad boy, most of the basic pua stuff already give you the bad boy aura. The basic traits are:

1. Dont giving a shit
2. Dont tolerate female BS
3. Scarcity (make yourself scarce)
4. Confidence

But like most things you need to be careful, you can get over the top with those real easy.

Extremely unusual post. I like it - I dont think much to your bad boy tips though. Where is the main point of a bad boy??? Bad is just a perception, cast aside form the rest. REBELLIOUS. Rebellion is the key to a bad boy.

I might add more to this later however,
The bad boy image isn't attractive because of the "bad" things. It is attractive because of the "good" traits within it.
The most extreem example of this is women with abusive men, why do they stay?
In regards to PU, the key is being a GOOD MAN (a topic to be covered in one of Fin and Myselfs videos). This is being a guy with all the useful bad boy traits, but with solid moral code (being a good person).

Hey!

Let me add something that I have started to tell people... A bad boy is not the same as a bad person!
A bad person has an immoral behaviour, a bad boy has an uncontrollable (by others) behaviour.

Basically, the bad boy is merely a guy who does as he pleases, a tribal leader or alpha male... A guy who does not play by the rules of others and do not care what they think of him...

Thanks for the post but is this not the same as every PU guru tells us? Inner game? Or maybe I missed the point...

Madal-

That is very true because nobody is like: boy he just stole a wallet/killed a man/hit a woman, he's SO COOL. That would imply that we are just evil people. He's cool because he compromises something special to himself for a greater good. His actions may seem evil, but many people might say they are simply misunderstood. This kind of man tends to be liked by people. He F***ing hate the people who whine and take no risks.
