I have read a million posts on here addressing the issue of how to appear authentic or avoid being "incongruent" etc.

Here is the best I could do to piece together my opinion based on thigns I have learned and experiences I have had.

When you do not appear authentic it is because THE PERSON YOU ARE COMMUNICATING WITH DOES A QUICK TEST OF YOUR CURRENT BEHAVIOR AGAINST YOUR PAST BEHAVIOR and it doesn't match. The quality of being authentic is simply when your behavior matches with a person previous experience of you and other humans. That's pretty much all.

There are big levels and little levels of this. If I say "I like you" while I am skinning you alive it will seem like an inauthentic statement. If I am acting cocky while all my body language shows I am insecure it will seem inauthentic.

When you are dealing with people you have known for a while they have pretty good data compiled about your behavior. This means that any active change in your behavior will create a inauthentic feel. So anytime you try to create improvement in yourself the initial reaction from people close to you will be suspicion on some level.

When you are dealing with new people it is much easier because they don't have a lot of data regarding your past behavior. So all you have to do is not contradict yourself in the moment.

If you want to learn a new skill, improve yourself, or make any change in yourself (like applying PUA) then you are just going to have to deal with it for a little while. If you are consistent then peoples vision of your behavior will eventually change and it will appear authentic over time.

With people close to me I have created a pattern that allows for my constant self improvement and change and neutralizes interpersonal conflict due to percieved inauthenticity. They know that I am not tied to the person I am at any one moment. They also generally trust that I have high integrity and any change I am making has the simple goal of bettering myself and my environment. This helps me a lot but might not be good for everyone.

Confidence is a huge factor here as well. I am not sure of the reason why but it seems extreme confidence and passion in action (no matter how bizarre) seems to keep peopled BULLSHIT detectors form going off. (if someone has some psych knowledge that explains this I would be very interested)

That's my piece. Now I can just link this to anyone asking authenticity advice. that saves time eh?

But what happens if you want to add in the surprise factor?

This is so considering that PUA has taught me that being unpredictable is important in creating mystery. This mystery attracts a woman, because she will want to find out more.

Hence, being consistent sounds to me like being predictable. So where's the boundary?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

You say, don't you?

I would think that there has to be some degree of both regardless of how long you've known the person for.

For instance, for long term, I would think one rather than be more consistent actually be more unpredictable. This contrary to your statement.

For short term, again contrary to your believe is where I think needs more authenticity. This being that one DHV and needs to back it up.

At least, this is how's it been like for me. What are your thoughts for your reasoning?

David D says not me. I go by what the MPUAs say because I find that my own intuition is usually wrong. That is why I got into PUA in the first place. The problem is that you are seeing consistency and unpredictability as mutually exclusive and they are not. Have you ever heard someone described as "man, you never know what that guy is going to do next" or "he is a hard person to read"? People like that are consistently unpredictable. For the sake of PU relationships unpredictability is even more important and consistency is key even though you only have to be consistent for a short time. Consistency=authenticity, unpredictability is not a factor in the equation.
