This could end up being a trip down memory lane for many, if not all, of us. But, I had an epiphone today!! Think about life before puberty...I mean really get into the mindset...you're on the playground at recess, you're about to play kickball or whatever game you played, all the boys and girls in your class are right there with you. Two people start picking teams, usually for the more athletic games, the guys went first, (sorry ladies, it's the truth). When you picked the girls, we'd always pick the girls we liked...as friends of course..haha
Or how about our normal interactions with the girls?? Did we ever really concern ourselves with anything sexual? Not at all...in most cases we were downright mean to girls. How many of you guys dared the other guys to pinch a girls butt or snap the bra strap of the girls who developed early? We'd also make fun of those girls. We would hit a girl almost the same as another boy. But, what happened, those girls would crush on us, we'd blush, and our guy friends would make fun of us. We'd say we didn't like the girl, but it was usually a lie. (Now that I'm typing it, it does appear to be at least a little sexual...at least with the knowledge I have now.)
But, all that changed when we hit puberty. We realized that, in most cases, we're physically bigger and stronger than girls, and we were taught that hitting girls isn't nice. We should treat them nicely and get them NICE gifts, pay for dates, and pretty much give all of our masculine energy over to the woman.
So, how does this relate to comfort? In my humble opinion, I think it has everything to do with comfort. When we used to treat girls the same as boys, they were COMFORTABLE with us.
But, once we all grew into our adult bodies, boys were taught to be TOO nice, and girls were taught that boys only want one thing. And, what's worse, is that the girls' moms told them that we would try to buy them things and be really nice to them to get it. (At least, that's my interpretation! lol) The stage was set in opposition at the earliest possible moment of adulthood. It's been a battle of epic proportions ever since.
My overall interpretation, is that we need to take a good long look at who we were before we became adults, and at least try to incorporate a little of that into who we are today. With the negs and teasing tactics, is that not what we're doing? I think if we all get that mindset back, the game will definitely become more natural to us...AGAIN!!
And, for those of you who read my "3 second rule" post, this too has been longer than I planned. Thanks for sticking with me, and I hope you get something from it!!
