I would say that forget books and DVD's and all that, just go out and try to do it your way even if its horrible. Because the same thing happened to me, when I was just gathering books and material and that kindda held me in the house, just reading but not doing anything, cause I had this feeling (I'm just gonna read/watch this one more and then went out).
I've read hudreds of pages and watched hours of material and it really didn't do make or brake progress in my game when I went out, so when you're finished reading you still have to kindda figure it out by sucess/failure dynamic.

But since that is not the topic of this post I'm gonna suggest some material (I've read/watched all of those below):
