Hey guys, I would appreciate your advise and pointers on this challenge I'm facing.
Me - the fairly known new guy at work (~6 months), early 30s, analyst
Her - the mid/late 40s - a roaring 10, tough single asian head of sales
This woman is feisty and direct, all the usually alpha male, arrogant and strutting sales managers become silent wimps when in meetings with her. She is always surrounded by her 2-3 assistants and other head ofs.
What's your guys approach on this - be the confident, serious younger co-worker that gets mingled with her sales managers? Buddying up with anybody below would just disqualify me in the ranks. To get this woman's attention, it mustn't be through some major successful project project, I believe.
So far, I've been on some meetings where she is the lead. And when in the hallways, she smiles and greets me - what I take solely as a formality.
I wonder, what's the first step and long time plan here - it's really anything else what I've dealt with before.
Greatly appreciate all your input!
