Post subject:  Being cocky funny
Hey there,

I'm pretty new here. I see myself as a natural funny guy and also pretty new to the game. But maybe i'm driving this to far. I'm just not sure. An example: Two days ago a housemate of me put something of a keychain on my phone. The day after we laughed about it as I took y phone out of my pocket. She said something like: "ha, now you can think about me all day." So I responded with a smile: "jeah of course, you can think that. And you may of course, it may be good for your self esteem". (wink). Actually, I found it pretty funny but, is this type of joke too arrogant? Is there a border that you can't cross?

Tell me what you guys think.

sense of humor is subjective to the person in question, there is really no such thing as universally funny or fineite line between acceptable and un-acceptable, comedy is pretty much comepletely dependant on the delivery, quite alot like pickup material, and the relavance as to if it is in poor taste is a matter of taste, there for subjective,

Here's the thing, to tell a guy that is probly bad. but tell that to a girl, YOUR GOOD. JOKES WITH GIRLS AND GUYS ARE OPPOSITE. tell a guy "your face looks really funny, kinda like (some ugly celebrity)" and you'll get beat up, tell it to a girl and she'll look at you funny, maybe laugh if she gets it and thinks high of herself. thats called "neg-ing" and helps a lot, dont do it more than like 2-3 times per 2 days. Only suggestion to that line is "sure you can think that, it may be good for your self esteem", but instead of editing it ida said "great, now i have to throw my phone away" and seen how i could push her buttons from there, make her chase me more.

I don't totally agree with this. Plenty of my friends refer to each other as asshole, shithead and other ridiculous terms of enderment. Some people would say that girls would take total offense to those types of statements, but honeslty I call girls shit like that all the time and get playful smirks and reverse kino's all the time (like "you suck!" followed by a pinch to the side).

It really depends on your charm and your persona. If you are known as a ball buster you can call a girl a cunt bag to her face and she will laugh it off. If you are awkward and overly serious they will just think you really meant it and hate you.

Cocky funny at it's core essence is just not being afraid to have a simple chuckle at a girls expense. The point being to make her feel you aren't intimidated by her.

This can be done with somethinig as simple as:

her: "Hey, can I borrow a dollar?"
you: "sure, but I charge interest"
her: "ok whatever, how much"
you: "you seem a little down on your luck, i'll be nice and keep it to 10%"
her: "oh gee thanks..."

that was as mild an example as I can think of, but still illustrates a chance to tell a girl that you think she may be bad with money and now she will (if even a tiny bit) want to prove that she isn't. The girl in this example will most likely pay you back by the end of the day with a smirk and 10 cents extra.

Or, if you can pull it off:

her: "Hey, can I borrow a dollar?"
you: "what do I look like a sucker?"
her: "no, i just need a dollar"
you: "ok, for a quicky in the closet"
her: "omg, no. And i'm worth so much more than that!"
you: "LOL whatever you say. Want the dollar or not? my balls are aching"
her: "i hate you." (but still takes the dollar and leaves it open for future harasment)

This is a more risky extreme example. That could get you fired, but if you are a charming bastard you can totaly get away with it. I did a little while ago. (and in this particular example it resulted in a free ass grab, much less than a fuck, but certainly worth the dollar).

In both cases you are just demonstrating you view yourself at equal or higher social level than the girl in question. This builds or maintains value in her mind.

If that kind of shit went down every single day, you would considered an asshole or be fired for sexual harassment. However, when peppered through your general persona it just becomes who you are.

I said that Girls and guys and opposites joke wise, not girlfriends and guyfriends mix-match ect. go up to a random guy and try to say funnily "sure you can have a dollar, but first put something pretty on", dumb as hell. go up to a random girl and say that, its funny and flirtatious. go up to a girlfriend or guyfriend and say this, they'll tease you about it or call you retarded COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Misunderstanding, hopefully i explained what i meant

Thanks guys, the message that I got here was, it's ok to do this stuff. Even if it's a bit rude. (its natural for me to have a dark sense of humor). On the other hand, don't overdo it. So, i'll keep doing it for i find it funny myself.

I don't think a joke like this is to arrogant... but it definitely depends on how you say it. I've been in the game about a year now and I've definitely learned about about being arrogant and C/F and it depends on how you say it... I think thats a good thing to say but it could be bad if said wrong. When you make a joke like this, i recommend giving a big ol' sarcastic smile, as big as your mouth can get, or say it in a playful tone. If your a naturally funny guy, then dont worry about being arrogant... when I first started, alot of girls got pissed because I was to cocky, and then after a while I wasn't cocky enough... Its all a journey. dont stress on it to much :)
