| Post subject: | Dealing with beta competition |
So I'm a swing dancer. In the local venue, I'm actually one of the best dancers, and certainly the most popular overall. I flirt with all the girls, and I have a ton of preapproval. I read The Game awhile back and applied it with success but have since laid those skills to rest, to just focus on being a cool guy and letting good things come. However, this guy who I was sort of taking under my wing awhile back, fell in line under the toe of this super bitchy girl and took it upon himself to do a lot of reading into the pickup community. Now he's hitting on this girl I'm interested in and I'm not sure how to handle it. We were pretty decent friends and I was his role model at one point, but as hes kind of turned into a bit of a jerk, our relationship has been strained and we havent got much rapport anymore. I dont want him moving in on this girl, but its an odd situation. Is there anything in particular I can do to cut him out of the picture? Or should I just try and up my own game, and be the more attractive option. |

Sounds as though, like many confused men these days, this pal of yours never bothered to learn the ins and outs of the male code. Or perhaps he's chosen to ignore those rules. Unless he's close enough to you to make it worth your time to nudge him in the right direction, I'd say it's time to cut him loose. The minute a "friend" tries to undercut you and become your competition, he's no longer worth keeping around. Go your own way and let him do the same. |
