Isn't it a little cocky to say that despite thousands and thousands of one-itis situations ending poorly, that for some reason YOU will be able to get the girl? And then you follow it up by asking how to not obsess over the girl. You make two opposite points so I'm not sure what you really want.

I'll tell you what I tell everyone else, do something fun. See a movie, play poker with friends, read a novel. Just be active and remind yourself that life rocks without a girl in the picture. If you can't be happy single, you will not be happy in a relationship or even hooking up.

i say that because ive assessed the situation and have made that conclusion

we almost got together but i called it off before, so i KNOW she at least finds me to be an acceptable if not desirable mate.

just to be clear, im asking how not to obsess over the girl and give the thought of her control over me until she comes back from vacation and can make my move.
