What do you guys think of taking a girl with you to the mall to help you pick out a cologne? Good or bad informal date idea? I was thinking it might offer a chance to demonstrate higher value through knowledge of fragrance and also lead to a little kino when trying different colognes on. The girl is also likely to want to try some perfumes on herself, which again could lead to some kino. What does everyone think? Has anyone ever tried this out successfully or have any stories to share? |

it could be good, or it could be a fast-track to the LJBF speech....sure take her along, but don't expect anything to come from it. be yourself, and act just like you would w/ one of your boys....once she sees that you're comfortable, she'll most likely start loosening up, and that's when you start showing IOI's and looking for them in return.... but for Gods sake, whatever you do, don't buy her any perfume! girls have been known to use this against us men.....those evil women!!! go get 'em boss. |

I tend to agree with Cornflakes. Shopping with a girl is a great way to feel out the situation. Try a little kino and see how she responds. If she likes you, she'll be sending you clear signals. If she doesn't or is unsure, you'll either have a hard time picking up on them or won't get any at all. As for cologne, I'd suggest shopping for clothes instead. Why? Well if you've been working out it's a GREAT way to show off a little. AND if you start flirting with the sales rep at the clothing store, it plants the idea in her head of you as the alpha bringing in the chics. Cologne can get annoying pretty fast. The olfactory senses get tired really quickly (which is why we get used to a smell). So shopping specifically for a cologne all day can get old pretty quick. If you really want, spray a little cologne on your arm, get in close and let her sniff the inside of your elbow. Subtle "almost" kino that gets things going. Don't forget to get her to try on some things, and then tease her when she does. Depending on how comfortable you are with her you can really push the envelope. I was a little ways along with one girl and told her to try on a black dress. She tried on the dress with a skirt. I shook my head disapprovingly and said, "See that girl with your dress in the poster? She's not wearing any pants. You gotta take off your pants." She immediately tried to kick me. The KEY important factor in this type of date is to be spontaneous. Turn your brain off and make it fun for YOU. And if YOU'RE having fun, then she'll start having fun. Veer off course - see a cologne place that you want to try and suddenly drag her into it. Flip out when you see an ice cream stand and demand that you guys stop and get some. Be excited and have fun. You may not get her on the first date, but at least she'll start looking at you as this fun, spontaneous, leader type who goes off on mini adventures as he sees fit. Q. |

So, a day of shopping in general would be much better than shopping around for just cologne? Ie... Shopping for clothes, shoes, cologne etc, etc? |

i agree that shopping for just cologne isnt the best idea. if you want to go shopping, make it general (clothes, shoes, cologne, etc) however, i dont think shopping is a good first date. If a guy asked me to go shopping for a first date i would be like wtf?! (im a girl btw lol) i think there needs to already be some existing comfort before you can go shopping. |

Thanks for your input. however, i dont think shopping is a good first date. If a guy asked me to go shopping for a first date i would be like wtf?! (im a girl btw lol) i think there needs to already be some existing comfort before you can go shopping. How would you feel about it if you had known the guy for quite some time already? I ask this question because I sense a girl I know may have some feelings for me and I want to find a good informal way of feeling the situation out a little before proceeding. |

If you've known her for some time then shopping may be a good approach to the situation. However, may i ask how old you are? I feel like going to a mall with a girl you like is a little more of a high school thing. (other ppl may not think this, just my personal opinion). Its not a bad idea if its done in the right context, though. My only concern is that the shopping has to be a 2 way road type of thing. You need to her her "look around" and she needs to help you. Just dont put too much emphasis on helping her or her having to help you, etc. It needs to be equal/ no being left out type of thing. How would you feel about it if you had known the guy for quite some time already? Quote: its definitely not a bad place. there are just a lot of distractions at the mall that you may have trouble working with. How are you sure you will be able to kino or escalate? This may prove trouble if the girl is shy. if you know the girl already, however, than it should be fine. if you randomly met a girl at a bar and got her number and then suggested to meet at the mall---that would seem odd to me. In that case i feel like lunch/coffee is a better option. |
